Topwaters yet
I figure its still a little early in the season but anyone tossing topwaters yet?
I did fairly well last year with poppers and buzzbaits but I didn't start chucking them until later in the summer. Is there an ideal water temp that clues you in when to give them a go?

Top water is a go. I usually throw frogs in the prespawn throughout the year.

if everyday was a good day there would be alot more fisherman.

I have been doing pretty well with top water Rapalas - including 5 fish this morning at Benson. A couple of them were in the 3 pound range.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

Should be good to go for topwaters. A good time to start topwater is during the postspawn. I'm pretty sure, some bass are in that phase.

AS soon as the water temperature hits 60 I am throwing rage tail shad and frogs,,
I have been doing quite well with them on Newman, Silver and Deer lake, up in the pads. Now for the fly rod, I wont throw poppers and divers until the water temp is 64 to 67 for bass.

I was out a couple of weeks ago and know of a place with post smallies. I threw some topwater with no hits, I did throw out a jerkbait pulled some nice smallies. The place was missing baitfish, that's when I notice topwaters work best. Spring has really dragged her feet this year.

A great topwater bait is the Reaction Skinny dippr, you can fish it on the surface or fish it as a jerkbait.
Try them...

Here is a great website for bass fishing information http://www.wired2fish.com/ and the link below is a list of what baits to try during what time of the year, water clarity and temperature.

I have had a couple nice frog fish this year. Throw em next time you are out there getting sun burnt.

RE:Topwaters yet
Top water time it is. Throw Vixens,Bowsticks, chugger style baits, frogs for great early morning and evening action as well as on cloudy days. Jerk Baits are also working from now until October.
