gearing up for some Ho's
I figure its about that time to start looking ahead to kings and ho's. What are some of the better rivers to fish for silvers in the area. Last year I fished the Green, did suprisingly well, the Puyallup, as good as expected, I was blanked on the Nisquaally- I found that river far to late in the season, but plan on hitting it in the next couple of weeks, and of course the Cow, which I only fished for steel head filling a card which I guess is the norm on that river. And then the Skook- which I took many steel head out of and surprisingly a few late run silvers.
Here's my question tho, which rivers are better for Silvers? I am told the Cow is lights out so I figure to make that trip a couple times this fall, but what rivers do ya'll fish? I have been hitting the Skok since it opened, its just far to crowded for me, although I have yet to spend enough time down river, I have only fished the Purdy Creek rd and from I have read on here there is much better fishing down river away from the knuckle draggers. Is there a silver run on the Skok?
My plan is the Puyallup and Nisqually now, then the Green once it opens, then the Skook for sure. But when should I look start planning trips to the Nisqually and the Cow? I have looked at the north rivers, but believe I will need to find a fishing partner to show me the around up there. So those are out until then.

Re: gearing up for some Ho's
just got off the phone with a buddy that fished the lower puyallup today. The hole he fished had 4 kings and 6 ho's taken out. Its nice to have a river 5 minutes from the house with good number of fish in it. Anybody else hearing that it should be a record year for Silvers on the Puyallup?

yh the skok has a decent silver run as do all hood canal rivers but if you think the skok is crowded I have heard the cowlitz gets twice as bad unless you have a boat. I like fishing the skook and cascade/skagit for silvers as well. I plan on hitting gorst a couple times this year with my friends .

Quilicene is a good option. The skok isnt great for silvers, i fish there every day for kings but when its time to switch to silvers i have a whole new river i fish.

I do really well on the quilcene but the river changed a little from last year and you have to really work for your fish and be there at the right time. It is like a mini skok, floss fest...

How do you work for your fish if you are flossing?Brat Bonker wrote:I do really well on the quilcene but the river changed a little from last year and you have to really work for your fish and be there at the right time. It is like a mini skok, floss fest...

Re: gearing up for some Ho's
Iam twitching pink jigs that are made by sea run northwest or something like that not quite to sure but they are made just for twitching with the bent jig eye and super strong hook. Anything pink works in that river. I am also going to try some eggs this year but I am going through most of my stock with the fall nookies at the skok and I have a lot of freezer burned stuff as well. hoochie jigs and spinners work well too.

Re: gearing up for some Ho's
i find adding a dark green or black\silver hoochie to a #4 or 5 blue fox slays silvers. I plan on throwing nothing but hardware at first. no eggs in the freezer and no green in the wallet to buy eggs. come to poppa you fat hens.
