Looks like the steelhead are going back into lakes again this year. They decided they needed a full EIS review. At least the lake fishers and cormorants will be happy!

I get your point and I am of the same mindset. However, while fishing Blue Lake, in Grant County, this year one could immediately tell the difference between the two strains of fish. Even though the smolts had a year in the lake, they looked every bit the steelhead with the exception of being a few inches shy of 20. Long, lean, mean and two toned. Can't wait to see what they look line next season.gfakkema wrote:Kind of a minor point, but it bothers me to no end. Look up the definition of a "steelhead". According to WDFW...
Steelhead: A SEA-RUN rainbow trout 20" in length and over.
They are not steelhead until they go to the ocean (and grow to over 20"). So, yes, they are planting the RAINBOW TROUT in lakes pending the results of an EIS.
I don't know why, but I get really irritated when I see people post "steelhead" reports from places like Angle Lake. Sorry if I'm being nit picky, but I had to get that off my chest. Rant over, continue on...
