Good the old hatchery program on the Skokomish said they only got 1 fish to return last year. Hopefully there will be some steelhead returning in the future.

Good lookn out shawn. Nice article. It's good to read positive stuff like this.
My question is, what if one of those 28 Steelhead get inhaled by a seal or other predator and the acoustic transmitter is swallowed with them. Now your tracking them instead of the steelhead. #-o

They just tossed that one steelie off that ledge. Everyone gets so offensive when you even touch a steelhead. Like I said they aint made of glass, and if scientest are launching them like that, you know they arnt too breakable.

That kitsap sun sure has some good steelhead articles. Thanks for bringing some life back to the river section too, Shawn

Cool article shawn....I appreciate it when other people post cool articles like this one on the forums...Must take some time for you to find these and post em up here..Thanks for doing it!

fishnislife: I'd imagine that seals would poop out the tracking devices after eating the steelhead and would sink and would just sit there and then the people looking the transmitters would notice that it was just still at one spot...So either dead or eaten...I'd also imagine that steelhead and seals have very different movement patterns and it would be pretty easy for them to recognize the difference between seals changes in locations versus that of a steelie....
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....
