How to catch trout in king/snohomish counties???
Hey all, my son and I have been fishing for a long time now and just recently got into trout fishing the lakes around my area (Redmond area). Tried many of the lakes around such as Ballinger (no luck), Cassidy (no luck), Beaver (no luck), Roesiger (no luck) and Blackmans (one 12" bottom fishing w/worms). I own a boat and we frequent the lakes mostly with worms/power bait on the bottom. Dont know where to fish on these lakes for trout or what to use? Its been a rough go early this year for us...but catching that one fish for me, its been worth it. She was gorgeous, and released unharmed
Any information is MUCH appreciated! thanks

Try trolling around with a wedding ring or dick nite tipped with a piece of night crawler. I've done well in the past with that set up. Play with the depths by adding a split shot or two above the leader.

Take your son to pine lake. It opens late april and you can't fail there.

if everyday was a good day there would be alot more fisherman.

Trolling works really well, but the weather is the problem right now. As things warm up a bit the bite will be on a lot stronger. Pine lake is good, but I've been fishing a lot of the lakes you mentioned and not very many people are catching at all yet. Power eggs/bait always works well for me, especially the "hatchery nuggets". casting spoons like a kastmaster or little cleo is my second bet, and you can't go wrong with a rooster tail. I like trolling spoons behind a pop gear or something like that, or a wedding ring with a worm, rowing always gives you something to do when they aren't biting.

I believe Nate is right on. The water temp right now is too cold resulting in lethargic trout. Yes a few are being caught using bait but once the water warms up a bit the trout will start actively feeding and the bite will improve. I'd say mid to late April things should pick up and that will last until about mid June when the water temp warms to the point where the trout again slow their feeding cycle.

Try taking him to beaver lake, we caught three truot in the ten minutes we were there with two pink power eggs on a baitholder hook, attached to a swivel, and an egg wait on top so they can take it and let the line go out. Them dropping 3,000 fish in that same spot wednesday probably helped too.[lol]
