it hurts to say but....best crappie lure ever

i am almost possitive that one the the greastest crappie lures in the world is a lelands lures "trout magnet" or "crappie magnet" both work and are the same exept the crappie magnet is bigger. these jigs work best when crappie are spawning in the shallows. you attach them to your line, and place some sort of bobber (preferably "cigar" shaped) about 2-4 feet abouve the jig. cast it out and twitch by jerking softly about 3-4 times and then reeling in the slack, repeat this procedure about every 10-30 secounds sometimes the bobber will get pulled down during the jerk but most of the time you will get hits after your bobber has set for about 5 secounds. do this in small bays or around submerged tree's and you to can catch 30+ crappie a day (personal best is 63). the secret to these jigs is that they are designed to sit vertical in the water instead of with the tail pointing down like most other jigs. i would not recommend using these jigs without a bobber because even the largest u can buy are way to small to cast by themselves. also you can aslo catch bluegill, bass, perch, TROUT, pumpkinseed, catfish, and FROGS. the best colors are chartruese, orange, white/chartruese, gold, glow-in-the-dark, brown, and i have heard pink works but i have never tried them. you can only get these lures online and http://www.troutmagnet.com/ or you can buy them at wal-mart but nowhere else. one last thing, you can tell what kind of fish you are getting bites from and if they are on by the ay the bobber moves, crappie will either hit it real hard and dive down, which can be kinda wierd becouse you will turn your head and the you turn back and your bobber is nowhere to be found this has happened to me numerous times. also perch will bite and almost thrash about and make it look like your bobber is vibrating, all i do is rip hard and hope he is hooked. go out and try these lures i gaurentee a catch. tight lines

I havent tried for crappie in forever, but If I was to go for them I would probably I agree with you and use the trout magnet. I have seen numerous ppl at Lacamas lake using them and having great success on each cast. I think brown and chartruese are you best bet when trying for bass or crappie. Maybe i'll take up crappie fishing a little more seriously next season. Nice thread man, keep up the good work.
If in doubt set the hook!

From Crappie and Bluegill I like Macks Kokanee Killers tipped with a little nightcrawler. The Kokanee Killer is just a super small wedding ring with a size 12 hook. I get a ton of hookup especially during the spring spawn, I think the smaller hook size is the key to getting hook ups verus just a bit and looseing your bait

I have always just walked past the "Kokanee Killer" because I do not fish for kokanee. How do you fish this? Trolling?
Casting?

I do agree. I purchased them after visiting their web site on your recomendation. I really like the way that the EZ Float (not available at Wal-Mart, but on the web site) works with the jig in that you can tell if the lure gets the smallest amount of weeds on it the float does not present well.
