havent got a chance to thumb through them yet, but i think the 2 dropping the limit to 2 a year for Sturgeon is a good idea but im really sad im not gonna have as much smoked sturgeon candy!

and the jig plunkers are gonna be back on the samish this year...


Baker lake is on for sockeye! and the lower snohomish (below hwy9) opens up the 1st of August for Humpies which is gonnna be awesome!! chromers all day long. Along with bonus bag limits for many of the rivers

Not sure how crazy i am about the new rules. Every year I feel like we lose 1 more thing and the tribes gain more.

Yea but the fish show up a week before it closes! (pending a reopening depending on... "fisherman compliance"?????) haha what the heck is that? nobody is gonna comply, the samish the biggest snag fishery in the USA... those idiots at the mouth should just be allowed to take their 2 fish hooked in the ass and go home, and they should make a mandatory float/bait rule upriver where I fish so REAL fisherman can catch them legally.

My guess is there is gonna be a game warden sitting at that bridge hole and if everyone is doing the ass hooking thing they are gonna shut it down. But if ever behaves they will leave it open.

Exactly why i quit fishing up there. ill stick to the cascade and the skykomish

Sounds like everyone needs to behave or we won't get our favorite fisheries this year. There's more than enough of this - "Respect Treaty Fisheries – Both state and tribal fishers often fish on the same body of water during the same time period with different fishing methods. Conflicts have arisen from both fishers that make it more difficult to exercise fishing rights. Anglers are reminded to respect treaty fishers. Anglers must yield the river to a tribal drift net fisher as the net goes by. Failure to “get along” will necessitate additional times and areas to be closed to sport anglers to reduce conflicts." to go around. If you read through all the proposed rules on the WDFW site over the last few months, you'd see that the majority of the rules are about people complaining about snaggers. Short of closing all of the rivers with a decent king run, you won't be getting rid of the problem. As I read through the new regs I did a couple of face palms and the futility of the thing.

It seems that WDFW cares more about a stupid hatchery stock snag fishery than things like wild steelhead... its the samish. Itll never change. They spend way too much time worrying about a stupid run of 100% hatchery stock fish where meeting escapement goals are NEVER an issue. They need to forget it, let the jig flossers catch their fish and go, as long as its in the mouth WHO CARES. Its a waste of time and money to protect a 100% hatchery run of kings that exceeds hatchery egg take yearly by thousands of fish. As our steelhead runs dwindle... The only thing the state cares about protecting is samish kings... Pathetic, haha

This!! So happy the dungy is opening early this year. That's when half the run comes in. last year at that time, there were hundreds of coho stacking up under that tree in the water by the hatchery creek. Eggs still being legal on the quil is nice too.
