Long Lake (Kitsap)

I'm going camping over Father's Day weekend at Manchester State Park and noticed that I'll be really close to Long Lake. After looking at the info and reports, it looks like it's a pretty stained lake. How effective will I be fishing from the park shore or the fishing dock if I'm attempting to get some bass? It looks like guys have had success with natural green pumpkin-like colors and also dark black/blue. What's going to be the best setup? Thanks in advance! [thumbsup]

This isn't an answer, exactly, but hopefully helpful information. That lake is really shallow (~10'), and has weeds growing almost to the surface over much of it. It has a good bass population but getting around it would certainly help. That said I have heard of people catching bass from the launch. Speed boats can be an issue as well as strong N/S wind, both of which make it harder to catch bass. Best of luck.

Very weedy. Think weedless lures. I know of a guy that does ok from the fishing dock tossing Senkos and grubs rigged weedless. The colors you mentioned are fine. The dock can get crowded. If you don't mind wading, head to the right, as you're looking at the lake, down the trail until it ends (just a few yards) fish the entire area. You can wade down a bit. It's shallow and gravelly. Again might have to go weedless. I've caught bass to 5 lbs in that area from my tube, and I was touching the bottom with my feet. You can fish from the launch dock but you will have to deal with boats going out or coming in. Good luck!
