Pflueger President Spinning Reel

Post by Awoods » Tue Apr 22, 2008 7:33 pm

I recently bought this reel from Sportco. I purchased the 6730 model which is in the "Light" class. It works absolutely great. It is by far the most smooth casting and retrieving reel I have ever had. It has a 10 ball bearing system, and is excellent for casting the distance. Surprisingly the reel was only $58.00, which is very cheap compared to the $150.00 reel I did have. If your looking for a new spinning reel, this is definently the one you should get, especially due to the price. WOW!

Yeah I'm definently hopping off the shimano banwago and getting on Pfluegers. IS the patriarch the reel used for heavier fish? If so, are they relatively cheap to the 300-400 dollar price that most salmon reels are. I defintly need a new salmon reel for river fishing. Which Pflueger do you suggest for that particular type of fishing?

I really like my Pflueger President spinning reel. I think it is a '40. It caught a speelhead first day out and it has reeled in a few salmon. I fell and dropped it and a do-hicky feel off inside just under the spool so I couldn't use. I mailed it back to the company with the spool explaining that I got it in Oct. but couldn't find the receipt for it. They sent me a different reel with an extra spool and it was fixed. All it cost me was the postage both ways and I was very happy to get it back.
The paint they use isn't very durable. My reel has a few scratches.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I use mine only for bass fishing low profile baitcaster, you would be better off maybe with a round baitcaster for line storage.Low profile gear ratios vary 7.1-6.3 variables you may need lower for salmon not sure though.Remember you get what you pay for

I also use Pflueger reels on both my spinning rods and my fly rod. I've used Pflueger Medalist fly reels since childhood. great reels and inexpensive.
