Digital Camera For Fishing

Im looking to get a camera specifically for fishing. I really dont want fish slime and scales in my $300. I used to have a pen cam that did pretty well for $45 but cant seem to find any similar products.

Keep in mind this camera will be used soley for fishing and it has to be moisture resistant.

Does anyone have a camera or sugestion on the best camera for this purpose?

Olympus Stylus series, I have the 770 SW (Shock and waterproof)
Never have to worry about dropping it or getting it wet. Don't even mind pulling it out in the pouring rain. It handles both. It's a good camera, not great, occasionally get a few bad/fuzzy pictures, 3x zoom I believe

I wouldn't go with anything else...Yes it may be expensive, but I want all my fishing memories captured with a good, waterproof camera...

exactly. no doubt Stylus. excellent fishing camera...if you're as clumsy as me, that's what you'll want....

Bump back up..

Just picked up a Xacti VPC E-2 to go along with my Olympus. The E2 is a very small camcorder/camera combo, 8 megapixels and its a real small thing for a camcorder, not much bigger then your average point and shoot digital camera. Not to mention its waterproof!!

Just over $200 at Best Buy, although Amazon has it cheaper. Haven't messed around much with it yet, but the few pictures/videos I've uploaded onto my comp thus far I've been impressed with..Heck of a unit, a great idea for the fisherman who likes taking pictures and the occasional video out on the water...Hoping I can piece together some cool segments on the water in the coming months....

I have a cheap DXG digital 5.1 just for fishing and it takes good pictures. It's light weight, small and has a case. It never gets wet and I don't care about it getting fishy, dirty or ending up in the lake because I didn't pay a bundle for it. I really don't think you need a camera to be completely waterproof unless your wanting to take underwater pics. Buy a quality inexpensive digital and call it good.

I just use my phone when I need to save weight and space. I wouldn't call it a cheap camera but it's pretty small. with an 8 gig flash card it's a pretty good video cam too. straight to YouTube!!!!!!

My girlfriend bought me the coolpix hunting system for christmas and it is great.http://www.mackspw.com/Item--i-NIK9449 She bought it at Joes after thanksgiving sale for $129 or $139 on sale. So far I am very impressed with it. It came with a water proof pelican case and a gorilla tripod. The only pic that I have taken with it so far that I wasn't impressed with was (unfortunatly) my friends 25 lb chrome nate steelhead on the Oly Peninsula the weekend after christmas. It was snowing extremely hard with about 3" of fresh powder and the pic (mainly the fish) turned out to bright because of the snow. I know how to operate the camera (all of the functions) correctly now so this won't happen again. Technology sucks! Now that I know how to operate it every pic is awesome. I haven't downloaded any pics from it yet but in the next couple of days I will try to get some pics onto this thread. Mabey even the one of my friends nice steelie, even though I screwed it up.

WOW! Amazon is selling that camera for $442!!!

That's more than I paid for my 10 foot Bass Raider! (Got it for $400 on craigslist. Retail = $700+)

photo (frame from video clip) taken with Xacti VPC E-2 . Camera was a foot underwater. Not having to worry about damaging the camera I find I am taking a lot more photos.

Using my HP Photosmart M425, 5 megapixel, 3x zoom now, considering the current prices, it would be cheaper to upgrade than try to replace the one I got if it got wet/fishy and got messed up so I thinks were gonna continue to use this one untill there is and issue and replace it with a new waterproof one.

I tried the my old cell phone but the pics were small and crappy and I know the first time I pulled out the new one, a Blackberry Pearl Flip, to take a pic, it would go overboard. This is probably the only fish pic the Blackberry will ever take.
