MA7 Mayhem

Post by Matt » Tue Jul 05, 2011 5:06 am

Was lucky enough to score an open seat for the MA7 madness that has been occurring since the opener. We hit the water shortly after 5 but unfortunately after making it about half way across the bay we had to turn back for a forgotten fishing license.... After picking it up we got back underway.

Debated where to start out the morning and fished Obstruction for several hours with nothing to show for it. Motored over to Tide Point where the bite seemed to be just turning on. Made several passes before our first takedown, lost the fish after a few short runs and headshakes.

Later in the same pass we hooked up again with a HOT 20#er that nearly spooled me at one point after gaining massive momentum on its first run. First fish in the boat, and its all smiles!

Fished a while longer in the area and watched every boat around us vacate, despite the obvious bite that was going on......?? Against our best judgment we decided to go back over to Obstruction and try it one more time....Before we left we saw these jokers with a deathwish "fishing"

Turned out our decision to move was the right choice!!! First pass and wham-o another 20#er is on its way to the boat. The fish got tangled around both outboards and actually ended up 15 feet up in front of the bow before we got it free.... surprisingly the fish made it to the net and into the box!!

Had an excellent time out on the water with good company and even better weather.

All fish were caught on the deck in 95-120 feet of water. :dj:

I will do a thorough report write up tomorrow, but for now its BED time! Happy independence day all.

Wow, now that's some chrome. Looks like a sunburn to me! Gotta love this weather though.

Thanks dudes. The weather couldn't have been nicer, flat calm and 70's!
