Have you been stimulated lately?

Post by fishnislife » Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:33 pm

With the Federal Goverment starting to send out the Stimulus Package today what are your plans for the money?

If you filed your taxes and received your refund by direct deposit than this is how you will receive the monies. Beginning today and depending on your Social Security number, people will begin to see the money in their account tomorrow morning. If you received your tax rebate by mail, you will be sent the check within the next few weeks.

Here are the guidlines and stimulus to be received:
To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. IRS will take care of the rest. Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage workers who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment.

So what are your plans?

Mine is to pay some credit down. Be smart with this you guys. Don't go out and blow it all. Save some and pay off those bills!

Sorry Fishinislife... couldn't do the smart thing. The kids have been needing some new bedroom furniture, and since this is supposed to stimulate the (American Economy) I thougth we'd put it towards some furniture made over seas,, LOL

Well that is a really good idea fishinislife, but my wife and I haven't been on vacation in a year, so we are using some of that money to go to Long Beach. Not to mention, the week we are going is our two year anniversery. We found an awesome hotel to stay at: Inn at discover coast

We plan on doing some horse riding on the beach, renting some mopeds and driving up and down the beach, doing some jetty/ surf fishing, a nice romantic dinner, etc. It should be a really good time! The good news is my credit card is only a few hundred shy of being paid off, so I guess this could be my reward for having it paid off.

Cheers,

Beerman

Have a great anniversary beerman. You deserve it with how hard you work. And I'm sure your wife deserves it too putting up with you all the time.

HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH, you are right. She is actually sitting here at my side right now and she agrees with both parts of your statement. Honestly though, I'm pretty amazed she puts up with me. I can be pretty hard headed and high maintenance sometimes.

With my upcoming deployment I will be stashing it in savings. Not much in the way of stimulating the economy from my end. I might buy a larger external hard drive for my laptop to put my movies and music on, but that's about it. Going to have to be creative so I can somehow write off what I buy as an "non-reimbursed job expense" next year.

Maybe I could even make a quick fishing trip somewhere, turn in a couple job applications while there and claim it as an expense while looking for work... :-k

I may be doing my part by buying a sit-on-top fishing kayak. I've been paying down debt and successfully avoiding using any credit for the past 8 months, so the wife and I are going to treat ourselves. Since it is our birthday this month it's a little easier to justify a little self-indulgence on Uncle Sam's dime.

Happy anniversary Beerman! You will love the beach if you haven't been there before. I HIGHLY recommend you get dinner reservations at Ocean Crest Resort for that special evening. I can not say enough good things about it; my wife and I celebrated our first anniversary (this year will be our fifth) there and have wanting to go back ever since. Make sure you let them know when you make the res what the occaision is, they will try and get you a table with an amazing view.

I am going to stimulate the poor oil companies. I am going to spend it all on gas for the boat before it goes to 10 bucks a gallon.

I am wanting to go small and portable this time. I am looking at the Malibu Mini-X with the X-wing. I like the thought of being that close to the water under my own power. I may or may not keep the Livingston after this, but I will still have the inflatable for family and days when I feel like bringing everything including the kitchen sink.

Too funny! Many people are probably going to pay down their oil company credit cards. Me, I think that for right now I am going to rat hole it for a rainy day........ I see dark clouds on the horizon.8-[

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I will double it.

Take bills, fold in half, stuff in pocket. Thusly, money has been doubled.

This whole thing is a crock of *&@$ if you ask me, whats a government handout of a paltry grand gonna do for a married couple that can barely afford gas?

Stupid if you ask me. We need some public works projects like the old CCC, Forest service and parks jobs, etc etc etc. Money made from the government that benefits the public good.

Oh, and sam, my fleet is currently 10 boats. No, you cant have too many, but in my case they can all be REALLY cheap!
