Christmas day dinner, what's on your table?

This is the time of year when folks sometimes go all out for Christmas day dinner. Some choose sea food while others go with prime rib, wild game if it’s available or in their freezer already, or some kind of bird or ham. The main course with all the trimmings makes this meal a great experience. So what's on your Christmas dinner table this year? Who is doing the cooking? Were you one of the lucky ones who had the opportunity to harvest a few pheasant this morning? I wish! Or maybe a goose or some ducks from your favorite hunting spot or duck jump?
This afternoon at my house, I will be roasting a prime rib served with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, and fresh baked Hawaiian sweet bread rolls which are to die for all by themselves. I will make a rue and add the roast drippings added to beef broth, plus a dash of half and half for an amazingly creamy gravy. If crabbing was open in my area, I would add fresh Dungeness crab dipped in melted butter to the menu but it's not so we will do without that tasty treat. No screaming kids or family members irritating others with offensive comments about another family member’s weight or whatever. Both our families lives too far away to visit, so it is always a quiet day at my house, just my wife and I which we both prefer. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to hear what everyone is having for dinner this Christmas day. Best wishes to everyone and good fishin in 2008.

I had ham, Black Forest. I would Fed Ex you some, but my wife sent most of the left overs home with my son. Funny how that pecking order works.

Black Forest Ham, yams, mashed potatoes, stuffing and the obligatory green bean casserole. Don't forget the assorted candies and pies. Quite tasty!!

That's not too weird...one year my mother decided to make Jumbalaya for Christmas dinner. While quite odd...it was pretty good. Shrimp, sausage, chicken, rice and whatever spice she decided to use.

HAD TO MANY PLACES TO VISIT, AND BE ABLE TO GET SOME FISHING IN, SO, I HAD HOMEMADE TAMALES WITH THE HISPANIC SIDE OF MY FAMILY ON X-MAS EVE, AND, THEN DEEP-FRIED WALLEYE FILLETS FOR MYSELF YESTERDAY, SINCE I CHOSE TO FISH LAKE WASHINGTON, AND SKIPPED DINNER AT MY UNCLE'S. CAUGHT A BUNCH OF MINI-PERCH ON THE LAKE, SO, I TREATED MYSELF TO THE FILLETS FROM MY B-DAY TRIP, WITH NOTHING FRESH TO COOK.

kIDS CAME HOME AT THE LAST MOMENT FROM THE WEST SIDE. WENT TO SOME RELATIVES ON THE EVE AND GOT A LITTLE TO MUCH NOG ALONG WITH DIPS , CHEESEBALLS, ETC. WENT TO SHERRIE'S RESTRAUNT FOR X-MAS BRUNCH. IN THE MIDDLE OF REMODELING ANOTHER PLACE THAT WE WILL BE MOVING INTO SOON SO LIVING BETWEEN TWO PLACE'S DIDN'T WORK FOR THE TRADITIONAL X-MAS DINNER GET TOGETHER. USUALLY IT'S HOMEMADE HUCKLEBERRY AND APPLE PIE'S, ROAST BEAST OF SOMESORT, USUALLY HAM. HAND MASHED POTATOES, HOT CROSSED BUNS, AND CREAMED GREENBEANS. WALLEYE SOUNDS LIKE THE BETTER X-MAS DINNER SO FAR.:chef:

Here is an offbeat for you all. We had ham, smoked Bear Ham.
Yep, that's right, from the black bear I shot with my bow this fall.
I figured that the in-laws, relatives, and all that crashed Christmas dinner would leave it alone when they found out what is was; I was wrong.
Next year, I'll keep my bear ham to myself and surve Turkey for Christmas Dinner.

Thanks to all who replied. Although our prime rib dinner was great I think I would have rather had walleye or smoked bear ham. I'll bet both were amazing. I doubt very many if any had bear for Christmas dinner. Gotta like that. Thanks again everyone. Happy Holidays.
