Carl Friedman, director of San Francisco's Animal Care and Control, said that although he does not want to condemn an entire breed, local and national statistics support taking steps to regulate pit bulls, such as mandatory neutering.

"When you have a mauling where a 12-year-old child is killed and when 50 to 60 percent of our hearings for vicious and dangerous animals are for pit bulls, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to see we have a problem with pit bulls," Friedman said.

Just one tiny example of the overwhelming amount of information out there that makes it very clear that this breed is the most dangerous breed out there.

REDDING -- Redding animal control officials are holding two pit bulls that allegedly attacked a man in a wheelchair who was out with his dog.

The Record-Searchlight reports that Redding police and animal regulation officers were dispatched to the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood about 1:45 p.m. after several reports of dogs attacking people.

Witnesses say 57-year-old Charles Osborn was taking his dog outside when the two pit bulls escaped from an apartment and attacked him.

Animal regulation Capt. Lee Anne Smith says Osborn suffered punctures and cuts to his hands and arms while protecting his dog and fighting off the pit bulls.

Smith says the city will hold the pit bulls until they're released to the owner or the city holds a dangerous dog hearing.

Does neutering lower the violence level of the dogs?

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Neutering is supposed to decrease the aggression level in dogs. I cannot quote any studies, but that is what is professed by veterinarians.

There is a definate difference in their activity after being neutered... All my dogs mellowed out, still liked to play fetch just not as hyper.

LOL. See if you can get an upgrade to keeping them in a felt lined box under the bed.#-o

I find Im much happier after the slight clipping, Less likely to roam, and no one walking up to me in the store saying "Are you my dad"

Mr. Snippy didn't slow me down. That is why I consented to the "external storage device" for my boys. I will check on the box option. She let's me borrow them on Sundays when I watch football with the boys so I can feel macho.
