I have always done well for brookies with 1/16 oz rooster tails. I have caught them on other things, but rooster tails have seemed to work best for me. Brookies seem to be a bit easier to fool than the other trout species are.

What works for me best is trolling a simple (small) wedding-ring tipped with worm.
Well its not called Catching!

Brook trout will hit almost anything I think, just keep it small enough.

One of my favorite flies is something I call a floating snail. It is a size 12 or 14 hook, with a couple wraps of extra large chenille, brown or olive, with a single wrap of matching hackle at the eye. Cast it out and just let is slowly sink.

I have done well on any of the other trout flies as well, but usually the brighter nympths work better.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

I have always had pretty good luck with with a Montana Nymph or a Zug Bug for brook trout. They seem to key in on peacock and either yellow or international orange.

Egg hook with two little eggs on there works MAGIC for me. Sometimes under a bobber too.

Are there any lakes on the west side that have Brookies?

Brook trout bite on most any color, but my favorite color for any trout is the tan color with the bug pattern and gold blade, it absolutly kills them if fished right. It also seems that brookies prefer the gold blades over the silver ones.

Brookies will also hit on powerbait, just like a rainbow. I've caught quite a few Brookies at Dog Lake using power eggs. A small hook and two or three power eggs for me has worked decent in catching Brook Trout.

What is the technical name for the housefly pattern??
