It was going to be the coolest day of the month. 60’s, cloudy, and barely any breeze. We were on the water from 8am-12pm. The water level was at 1,188.81 feet of elevation which left little dock space for incoming and outgoing boats.
The water temperature was 72. We used the downriggers to as low as 35 feet. I used my longlined rod with 5/8oz weight and out 40-50 feet of line. My son had maybe 1/2oz at 40 to 80 feet of line. He was using for bait worm and corn. I used corn and Berkley maggot. We went from 1 to 1.5 mph for speed.
All we caught were kokanee. All had the adipose fin clipped except for the little one.
We watched the Sheriff motor around for a while. They came back with the lights flashing and went to the dock. A little bit later a sheriff came out on foot to check 3 people fishing from shore on the opposite side of the boat launch.

That is an unusual way to land a kokanee, by retrieving the downrigger weight instead of a rod/reel. Not once, but twice on one trip. Seems a little slower than conventional. See you haven't changed out the DR clip for salmon in the bay for kokanee in the lake (much weaker) clip. Imagine you caught the bigger fish on the the DR since a smaller fish wouldn't be able to move your 10# weight enough to register a bite on the rod tip. You lose a lot of fish with that strong-grip clip as I mentioned back in 2016 or so on here. Is your current clip from your old boat? Here is one I use that returns to surface after releasing the line, goes back down by itself--- https://www.kokaneetackle.com/p-263-macks-shuttle-hawk-downrigger-release.aspx

I bought a shuttle hawk from Gary. I got rid of it. I do not know what you are talking about "That is an unusual way to land a kokanee, by retrieving the downrigger weight instead of a rod/reel."? We bring them in on rod and reel. I am not changing my balls or clips as I have an 8 and 10 pound. Saltwater I use heavier. Clips have 2 adjustments on them in freshwater I use the lighter setting. Since we each have 1 rod on the downrigger and 1 on a longline the ratio is about the same at 1/2oz and 5/8oz to the downrigger clips and balls.
