Hitting the scales at 9.83lbs. Howard Hardin's monster smallie breaks the California record. Caught at Pardee Lake in North-Central Cali. on July 3. And just guess what he was tossing to catch that beast. Yep, a swimbait! The only way for big bass.

Awesome catch!
Must be a good feeling. Now we wait for that LMB record to be shattered. In due time. I'm guessing next spring.

yeah that lakes sure does put out nice ones. there were a few that were just shy of the record.

WOW what a fish. My good buddy Tim Brady out of Weaverville CA had the record from Trinity Lake for a long time. I thought Trinity would put out the next record. I have snorkled Trinity and seen Smallies over the record. Good on him. That fish will land him some big money and a memory to last a lifetime.

I sit here and think about the kind of fight that those smallys put up and i wonder how it felt to catch one this size .. IT had to feel like a 15 pounder !! great fish ...BBD
