Eastern Washington Lakes
Any of you guys seeing a marked increase in trout productivity as we enter September? I haven't been out for trout in a couple of weeks now and am curious. Water temps? Seems to me that we can't get a sustained period of cooler weather. These upper 80s and low 90s are killing me!
RE:Eastern Washington Lakes
I was on Silver Lake (4 lakes) last Friday. Water temp in the morning was 69 degree in the early morning and went up to 72 in the afternoon. The nights are getting cooler and longer and the trout should wake up in a couple of weeks

RE:Eastern Washington Lakes
Over the last 3 weeks I have fished Fan, Horseshoe, Amber and Fish (twice). The water temps seem to be hovering around 70 (horseshoe was in the upper 60's) and the fishing seems to be pretty good overall. As the nights get longer the water temps will be coming down and we should start seeing some surface action again!
One thing I am noticing recently is that the average size is larger, much larger in some cases, than just a month ago. At Fan last week I got into about 15 fish in 4 hours and most of them were over 19". I have always done well at Fan over the last few years catching Trout, but have caught few over 18" in that time span.
Going out to Fish Lake has been very good this year as well. I'm not seeing many of the Brookies, but I have caught several Tiger Trout over 18" and now as of last Wednesday 2 over 20".
I'm looking forward to the cooler weather and the final push at the area lakes before the close of the season.
Tight Lines!
