Finally finished the 8wt Switchrod

Post by fishing collector » Sat Apr 11, 2009 11:17 am

Thanks to all for the great info I received on the Switchrod. Well I am finally done with it and it came out better than I expected. I chose a Batson Rainshadow 10' 8" 8 wt Switch rod and an A.R.E. Large arbor reel. I added some feathers from my little Parakeet , Carmella. She sheds a lot about 3 times a year,so I just had to add some as an added touch to her. Mike Herman up in Everett at Big Fish showed me how to do everything in the right order. Evidentally that is real important as I found out! He is a quite an instructor and really is good with Newbies such as myself. He even teaches young kids how to make their first rod. I have added a few picks.... I want to try the rod out on the beach fishing for humpies and coho along with some summerrun steelhead. I added a few others so you can click on them also.... BTW what kind of line should I use for this rod/reel? There are so many kinds. Thanks again for all the help, Steve

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

Nice looking stick. Hope she fishes as good as she looks. I need to stop in at Hermans Big Fish Tackle shop one of these days. I drive by it nearly every day but have yet to stop in.
