Fishin the green

Post by FishBaitThe2nd » Tue Jul 09, 2013 1:30 pm

Im gonna fish the green a few times this year, I watched some videos, and I read the reports. It seems like in the beginning of September is when it starts to get hot.
Im looking for a spot that has good fishing, and easy bank access for my grandparents.
I saw this spot in this video and it seemed pretty good, could anybody give me the name of this area, or maybe some better reccomendations? Thanks
Heres this video. I believe its another WALaker.

That area looks pretty high in the system, and probably wouldn't be open yet. I would fish below I-5 in Tukwilla, if you want to find any worth keeping. There's access behind BECU, and over by the Tukwilla Community Center. Leave the corkies at home, and bring pink jigs and Dicknites. The last pink run, they were in pretty good by Sept.1 .

that looks like up high, but cant be certain. For the best chance at fresh fish stick with the Renton area. Lots of parks and shopping centers close to accessing the river trail. Tons of fishing from there.

The problem I see always in the Renton Tukwilla area is Homeless and drunks hanging out on the river. Thats why I fish up above . Ifin I was to take my grandparents Id want the more peacefull areas like Auburn.

you could always hit spokane street and get'em fresh right as they are hitting the river.. only a couple folks down there at best.

haha, one guy told me to go to the spokane street bridge this year, i told him i've seen that crowd and there's no way. I mean, I can deal with a little bit of combat fishing, but that's insane.

It's one thing when you're squidding shoulder to shoulder, because the squid don't take your line anywhere, you just reel them straight up, but i can only imagine what kind of crapstorm it is when someone hooks a decent pink and it takes off crossing everyones lines.

Do I see a guy in the pic wearing a biking helmet? Pretty good idea, although a motorcycle helmet may be better.

You took that photo?! You're braver than I. I don't think I could handle the Spokane St. crowd.

a whole lot of NOPEEE there for me. I will take my chances anchored up and tossing jigs. That just looks like some crazy nonsense there.

That video was taken at the upper bend in Flaming Geyser, at least from the look of the wall and pool. I know this is going to sound lame but even with humpies, if your going to release these fish don't drag them up on the beach, hold em up pass em around like a beer on the wall and then put them back... If for any other reason just to show others how to handle fish treat them like you want them to live and reproduce.

Not lame at all. If you plan on catch and release, at least do it properly. Saw some guy kicking pinks back in the river down at the Puyallup a few years ago. Another angler called him out on it and he should respect the fish. He didnt kick another humpy back in the river the rest of the day.

If im gonna release a fish I try not to bring it out of the water, unless its at the skok but that's just because of the spot I fish I have to.

Again I wasn't trying to point it anyone one here, the guy in the video was beachin them so I figured I would mention it because were coming into the season and I see it all the time. It's too the point now where if I am CNRn I don't fish in places I can't be sure I will be capable of a solid release, IE tall dirty banks, cliff sides etc... But that is not here or there. The green sees a TON of fishing, angling and of course poaching. Call it out if you see it. If you are looking for the best spots, please try to go anywhere I am not... I like it better that way... MUAHHAHAHA

Speaking of wife and kids I need to find a decent spot to get mine into their first ever salmon. Figure to avoid the bigger crowds so that they can learn to play a fish and not just horse it in. I want to teach them how to fish nice and slow and not throw them into combat right from the get go.

because if I do the math right that would be 24 egg wagons per trip. So yeah, I will be more then happy to take the wife and kids along a time or two
