Duwamish barges?

Post by Gwendylyn » Fri Sep 13, 2013 5:32 pm

Has anyone been up the Duwamish in the last day or two & seen if the barges are still blocking the river or not? [confused]

I was up there today and you can go around them next to the shore line on the east side. Stay close to the barges as you go around them.... At low tide I seen a couple concrete items just under the surface that took me by surprise. Lots of open boats went through there today. We didn't do very well today but seen a few pinks caught... lots of jumpers.....

It was like that earlier this week as well. They were jumping everywhere but not interested in biting. I'm hoping my timing tomorrow will be smothered in all kinds of good fishy karma [woot]

they were moving one big one around today and the passage was open... they can;t completely block the river, theres always room to squeeze through.. its about to get worse soon when the clean up starts

Am I going to sound like an idiot if I ask, what clean up? Do you mean when they're done with that bridge or is something else fun coming?

I thought they already dug that out before they tore down plant 2?
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

That whole area is a super fund site. When they were restoring the Natural Habitat just down from the 1st ave south bridge, they pulled out about 300 barges of goo and in went about 300 barges of clean dirt, a couple years after that every conservation group in the Seattle area was down their planting plants and bushes.

Yeah, there were people down there fishing from the new shoreline this morning - I was surprised, I didn't figure they would want people tramping around the new shoreline in the mud... or maybe they don't...

its definitely changed a bunch just from last year.. the bridge is taking a while and more and more equipment is around.. I like fishing down there though, the fish seem a bit more bitey..
