I'm in the same boat, I don't pour, but buy in bulk and tie my own. The hooks are Mustad and I've never lost a fish to a bent hook. Now I have backed away from the 1/6 #4's and upped em to #2 cause the #4s were ending up being "1-use jigs" (after one use they were toast) but still never lost a fish on one. Heck, I've bent em on a snag and just bent em back and still not had a problem. I can see if you have to horse a fish in where hooks will get bent, but if you have the room and play em right. But who knows, maybe It's just a matter of time..
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

yea i hear ya, if ya know how to play fish and have room your gonna be fine, but im always worried about some 18-20 pound steelhead heading for the rapids below and wanting to go into the next hole and bending the S**T outta my jig hook, so i step it up, hell ive bent good jig hooks on little hatch brats trying to pull um away from logjams

if you bend any gami hook you are horsing the fish way too much, I like to get a good fight out of my fish that is why I fish cheaping hooks and 6lb leaders too with light action rods, mostly for summer fish though but I am going to try that tactic on the cascade since you have plenty of room to fight a fish except in the log jam. nothing more fun than fighting a hot summer run on a loomis float rod haha
