I'm fine with people being passionate about their fishing, that's a good thing, but I'd like to ask everyone to do one thing. When we're discussing fisheries policy and management issues, let's try to keep the conversation objective and on the subject matter, and not personalize it. Thanks, everyone.

Thank you. People who cross the line have and will be reminded that we are trying to maintain a civil place where people can discuss issues. Name calling and using distasteful analogies are not appreciated and are counter-productive to ones position. Ultimately no good comes of it.

Very well said Mike. Its importent to remember Don is reporting the news, not making it. Don't shoot the messanger. To have a more complete understanding of the issue (pike in the POR) one must also study the 2009 Lease Agreement. The agreement between the Kalispel Tribe and the Operators/Owners of the two dams Albany Falls and Box Canyon. In short the agreement provides incentives to the tribe of 100's of million dollars for efforts to return the native species to the river. Part of that effort would be to remove as many Pike as possible. While migrating pike into the Columbia is of grave concern, its been going on since 1988. The lease agreement seems to coinside with the alarmest press releases and gillnetting for eradication. If I'd been told two years ago the Tribe was promised millions of dollars and a return of the river to the way it was, I'd said good for them. I side with the Tribe! But to say its all about save the salmon is an insult to the public. Lets be honest here and tell the whole truth, then and only then will the arguing end.

Don,

As it was once said by some one much wiser than myself. "Malevolence rides easily on the tongue; it is the good word that sets heavily in the throat"...

Peace...
