Cedar river trout?
I have been hearing the cedar river is a top notch fishery in the greater seattle area. I also klnow that its not just a fly fishing river no bait single brabless hooks are a must lures are fine. but i would like to know if it is worthwhile through renton i see some nice water to fish. where are the better spots?
An old man once told me that if you stick a worm on a hook drop it over the bank you can feed your self for life. I tried it modified it and geez I am beating them off with a broom now.
" Talking about the way it used to be. Skittley dit dat dow doo day. we used to pull Stripers out of san pablo bay. now the delta waters go down so cal and the stripers faded away.." (Primus)

I just fished it this morning and the river is loaded with suckers, never seen it this bad. It is a small river with many access sites, just drive up hwy 169 and keep your eyes peeled. There is also a trail that has been put in that follows the river upstream from where I-405 crosses it, and I wouldn't bother fishing downstream from that point. You can follow the river all the way up to Landsberg just be mindful of private property in the Maple Valley area.

G-man, thanks for the info.. I live on 169 hwy, and never really knew that there is fishing there, but I do see cars parked on the side, as I'm heading to Maple Valley. What the heck is sucker fishes? Are they fun for catch and release?

Take a look at this post on the Cedar river. http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya ... aspx#79931 I attached a few pics of the trout and suckers I have caught in the river. The suckers are fun to catch and you can keep them if you want, it's only the trout you need to release. I can't imagine eating one but I'm going to start keeping them for crab bait. Also, if you see folks fishing take a look at what they are using as I've seen evidence of poaching and the use of bait. So please help get this system back in the shape and report violators.

Thanks again G-man, I will go to that link and send a reply! I will also keep an eye out for how others are fishing for.

I would also add to be on the lookout for the nimrods who are molesting the Sockeye as they return to the river in late Summer. It has been a problem for many years in the Landsburg area due to much out-of-the-way access along the old Milwaukee Road right-of-way.
This is my home water (less than 2 miles away) and I really wish to keep that Sockeye run viable.

Never let the TRUTH get in the way of a good fish story!!
