They look like a gimmick to me. Why would they brag about selling rods to jet skiers? It shows that they were so bad that they never fish anymore, just ski. I've never tried them though, so don't quote me on it.

The short compact fishing rod really isn't a new concept. When I was young in the midwest in the 1950's, I remember seeing a lot of those kind of rods. The design was a little different, but basically the same. If I remember right, the rod was used primarily for ice fishing. In the late 60's & early 70's, there was a rod marketed called the Pocket Fisherman that is still available today. It is more of a gadget than anything else.

I thought they looked interesting when I watched the video on their web site a few months back. I was going to get one and thought it was alittle bit much for an experiment, since I have never even see one except on the web site.
Does it really cast as far as they say in the video? Can you "feel" the bite? Do you notice a big difference in fighting the fish without the length of pole?

Thanks in advance for your advice,

Lewis

Yes you can cast that far, I have a 6 coil rod so i can feel even light bits, i only got small cats and trout 6 to 10" so far. but i am hooked on them

I have not tried one but I did see a demonstration with them at a Fred Hall Show. Very durable and they seemed like they would do the trick. Something in me though likes that leverage of a long rod. It seems like it would be awkward to use.
