Trout Unlimited Togiak Float Tube - Review

Here is a product review of the Trout Unlimited Togiak float tube and Dick's Sporting Goods Online.

I purchased my tube Sunday at 6:30pm from Dick's and it showed up on my doorstep Tuesday afternoon. Very impressive. And this without paying for any extra shipping. After tearing into the box and inspecting the product I could tell that the craftmenship was very good and all the seems looked very well put together. One thing I did notice is that it appeared that no one had ever touched it before, since production. A big plus, expecially for buying online.
As far as the assembly of this tube it is just like any other, very simple. One thing I have noticed is that the tube bladders are much bigger than the material allows. Basically, if you were to inflate the bladders to full capacity you would blow through the material. They are too big and don't become fully inflated inside the tube. The storage on this tube is great. Many pockets and storage space. Once on the water, I expected the stadium seating to be up out of the water. (after reading many reviews) But this was not the case. While I stayed dryer than a donut tube or u tube. My butt and crotch area remained in the water. No big deal, but different than what I was expecting.
I had no casting problems and liked the fact that I was out of the water a little bit more than a normal tube. Moving was easy and balance was not an issue. Great stability. I will say, I didn't end up slouching in my seat like I am normally use to with float tubing and I didn't have to adjust myself as much. I read in reviews that the back of the seat can become annoying because the bars on the sides of the back can dig into you upper back. I had no problems with this because it appears I sit right in between them. If I was a little big bigger I could see how this would be an issue.
Set up and break down takes minutes and the size and weight are ideal for the traveling float tuber. I can see this being a great tube for hike-in lakes and shoulder straps come with this tube.
The Trout Unlimited Togiak Float Tube ended up costing $125 dollars from Dick's Online (where most were around $140+) and I am very pleased with the fast shipping and product that was delivered. For Dick's Online, I would give a 5 star rating and I will not hesitate to order from them again. I give this tube 4 out of 5 stars. Only thing that would make this a 5 star review would be if it sat completely up out of the water like I had anticipated and the bladders blew all the way up. Other than that I would recommend this float tube to anyone.
As an added bonus the tube comes with a one year free subscription to Trout Unlimited Magazine.
