Fishing from Shore

Post by thefranimal » Sat Sep 22, 2012 9:58 pm

Anyone have any tips on location and what to throw off of shore? I'm new to fishing in the area and totally clueless about saltwater. I don't have a boat so I'm limited to shore. I know the cohos are gathering at this time and I want a piece of the action. I'm thinking of hitting point-no-point from the beach and throwing a large vibrax spinner or a buzz bomb and/or other heavy weighted jigging spoons.

Any tips for a newbie saltwater fisherman would be great.

you can hit the "shore" in the salt or rivers right now..

Mukilteo beach over by the ferry can be productive on an incoming tide, throw buzz bombs green and white and spoons.. picninc point is another place i have heard of..

google google, bing, google, maps.google.com.. and this sites reports.. read, research, go.. make a report.. [thumbup]

Carkeek park, Lincoln park, Browns Pt, Dash Pt. The Dock at Salty's. The list goes on. Pt No Pt may be a long cast.

probably one of my favorite ways to catch coho from the beach is either deception pass, or fort casey. and throw a spin-n-glow with a hoochie behind it, nice chunk of pencil lead in front and wing it out there

Check out the State for Salmon Hatcheries. Pick the ones near to you and find the spots folks fish for them. I'm not sure about the Oly, Tumwater area but you could head up to the Nisqually or out to Allen. You just hit the end of my rope with out heading to the Columbia and it's tribs, like the Cowlitz.
