Samish Island???

Post by bel83 » Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:18 pm

Hey Guys,

I am not sure what area Samish Island is in but it is up north of Anacortes a little bit. Anyway I am going to be up there this weekend doing some fishing and there is a good chance that I will be able to fish from my friends Boat (he has a really nicely equipped Alumaweld 20' with good downriggers.) Anyway I was wondering what is good to fish for out there. I am fairly certain he will be going after Salmon if they are open. I was hoping to try for some Bottom fish (I really want a rockfish because all the times I have eaten them it was delicious). What should I use to fish for bottom fish for bait? I don't think you can troll for them but if you can what would my set up be? any other useful information or species to go after??? Thanks!

Pt Wilson darts, or anything that looks like them. If this place has a good population of them, color, shape, or size wont matter!
And if its a snaggy area, tip it with a herring head.
