What's the deal with the massive amount of seaweed floating in the Sound right now? I have been from Picnic Point (almost Everett) down to Redondo and Three Trees, and every where in between. There is so much crap in the water that it really impares fishing.
I was just curious if anyone can say if it is a time of the year thing, or if it is do to some kind of weird tide change etc. I just don't remember it this way last year. It's forcing me back to the lakes.:batman:

It usually gets bad in the summer, warmer water temps being a reason. Our beach has seaweed all over the tide flats, however from early Winter thru Spring, its pure sand on the tide flats.quadradomus wrote:What's the deal with the massive amount of seaweed floating in the Sound right now? If it gets bad, it is usually around the tide changes, so when the tides aren't moving fast or when their is a slack tide. So if it is just unbearable to fish around the slack or near it, which is usually the best time to fish (+/- 2 hours slack tide) fish somewhere in the middle of the tides....
Good luck Quad...

You know what? I see why Sam is an Admiral. He be knowing his stuff. Its the longer days and warm water that gets this type of seaweed to grow. The good and bad parts of the weeds are the cod fish love hanging in the seaweed beds as do most marine life.Seaweed has the Micros that fish love.Good luck.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Haven't been out this year, since the 9.9 was stolen, but i do remember it like that last year. Tacoma to Seattle was as far as we went though. It seemed like there were spots worse than others.quadradomus wrote:I just don't remember it this way last year.
