Trolling for Blackmouth

Post by sparky1doug » Thu Jan 06, 2011 9:39 pm

I came across a lure which resembles a squid. It was originally made for Musky and Pike but I thought this might be worth trolling in the Sound, what do you think?

Why not? You will never know until you try. But the thing is you need to know fish are there when you use it. Otherwise you might think it isn't working but it is just no fish.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

The evolution of a lure. The lure I found as it turns out is a prototype and now has several color combos. It's on the way to Washington for a dip in the sound. Several local trollers will be teasing some blackmouth with the lure, so we will see how it works. I'll post the results in a couple weeks.

That would be killer for springers and fish down at Buoy 10 in the summer! Behind a fish flash I bet that would by dynamite.

Looks like an adaptation of a spinner bait for bass.

As of the last few days these lures are now available. They are made by Fish Creek Spinners. So if your interested in checking them out a little closer go to they're web site. I will also have some of the first ones made at the Sportsmans Show so come by the Muskies Inc. booth and ask for Sparky and you can get a better look at them.

Look at this rare beach caught and (released) native Blackmouth from near Point No Point 2/19/11. I displayed the lucky lure with it. Caught while testing this new color combo.

Thanks A9, I may have aided in the design but that is a Fish Creek Spinner out of Colorado. John Delaney deserves all the credit. I just saw a Musky lure which strongly resembled a squid and helped him adapt the basic design. The Chinook was a nice bonus and what it was doing feeding in shallow water I'll never know. If you too would to try your luck visit FCS site and see what John has to offer http://www.fishcreekspinners.com/ take care and good fishing all >:"":>.

Just got this pic sent from a guy in Odense, Denmark. Another Sea run Trout caught on FCS. This was a smaller 1/5oz Red and Gold Metal Armadillo. Not as big as the Washington Chinook Doug showed, but hey, cast by cast!

Looks like they'd work good for river and salt beach use. Also decent for flat ling silvers if there aren't a lot of boats around. Would need riggers or lead in front of it to get down near the mud in typical blackmouth territory.
