There are specific piers listed in the marine area rules (like the Dash Pt, Les Davis, Des Moines, etc. piers for area 11; Edmonds pier for area 9; etc.).

The special rules will list the specific rules for the piers, and the ones in area 11 do not have specify a wild fish release requirement.

That's a long winded way of saying unclipped kings and unclipped silvers are legal to retain, when fishing off these piers.

I asked the same question to WDFW a few years ago, and they confirmed that unclipped fish were legal to retain. The rationale is that relatively few salmon are caught from piers to make an impact, as compared to folks fishing from the boats.

Be sure to use single-point barbless hooks for your lures, per the new rules this year.

Even 19 years ago we used sinle barbless hooks.
I thought that there was a rule about keeping wild fish from the docks. It seems like I read it last year but after the guy caught the one at Dash Point today, I could not find it in the book.

I fish the Edmonds pier, and people have been keeping unclipped fish (legally) there for years. Just one example.

Here's an interesting twist: Dash Point pier. You can keep wild kings if fishing off the pier. But if you are fishing from the beach next to the pier, you would have to release the wild kings.

For the hooks (just to be clear on language): it is "single point hooks" -- not "single hooks". In other words, treble hooks are illegal. But it is legal to use one or even two single-point hooks (like two single-point hooks tied in tandem when mooching using plug-cut herring)

That is what I meant. I use 2 single hooks tied on the same leader. Pinched barbs and have for years. Language is funny. I was seeing what I tried to write and not quite getting it out right.
