Yet another duplication. There are already laws in place that govern dumping any sewage into Puget Sound. Just another waste of our Congresses time and tax payers money creating laws that are already on the books. [rolleyes]

Commercial vessels have waste treatment equipment on board. Not all even have the tankage for waste holding. The crap is digested, electrocuted and chemically sterilized........ This is potentially millions of dollars of employers expenses. This affects the smaller-medium work boats of our region in the Sound quite a bit. What's on the books now is under NO circumstances can you dump RAW sewage. This takes it further and makes it no treated sewage either.... I say, make Sandpoint and Carkeek accomplish that first if it's going to be imposed on the private work boat employers. F those B-tards in Olympia!

While I normally agree with just about all pollution laws, this one appears to do more harm than good.

Oh boy! Another regulation. I'm sure it will help, as do most of them... cough...

Under current regs, no one has not broken the law at some point. The laws themselves conflict. Try to build a house some time. It's like immigration or any other topic: Enforce what is already there before adding to it.

LOL Careful! You'll have the crap and piss nazis writing tickets to 10' jon boats for pissing off the stern. LOL No raw sewage! :-$

I agree with you of course. There are enough violators of current law to keep them busy.... I got a speeding ticket last Oct in a van, while towing a boat. I hardly ever even reach the speed limit in this old van while towing a boat. It was just my bad luck that I was going down hill. LOL First ticket in about 10 years. I contested it, judge reduced it to $80.... Tax collecting pirates! LOL

Yeah, the closest to a ticket I've gotten was in the Yakima River canyon in the early 70's, pulling a bass boat with a VW camper. Going downhill I reached 46mph in a 45. Cop pulled me over and gave me a warning. I was a teen, so I'm guessing he wanted to put the fear of dog in me. I was polite, and he didn't write the ticket, but even he said it was "1 mph over."

Personally speaking, I think it would be a great bill to have. There is so much raw sewage and other pollutants discharged in the sound on a daily basis. The latest was up north in an "undisclosed" amount. I really do not care what it costs businesses. The guy said it would cost him 125K to add a holding tank?! good. Probably should have thought of that. Probably be cheaper to strap a porta potty to the back of the boat. But either way, keep your trout in your business. [thumbup]

Res.... it's already illegal..... to dump any raw sewage in any public waters in WA.

This bill doesn't help. If I thought it would, I'd support it. I'm all for cleaner water and better circumstances for our fish and us.

As with so many "noble" laws, it's already written. Pretty soon somebody will write one stating "The redistribution of wealth is only to occur when regulated by the government, with appropriate fees, and not by the general populace." Translation: Thou shalt not steal, the government hates the competition.
If the guy who "needs" the holding tank is dumping waste (double meaning there, huh?) then he can be appropriately stripped of everything under current laws. Fishermen and other voters need to recognize red herrings, especially in election years. Oh, and both sides do it, regularly.

Is the boat in the water? Or your driveway?

I hope it's not illegal to toss garbage off your boat. I've been doing this for years with a variety of car batteries, tires and mostly full paint cans in the attempt to build aquatic habitat and structure. So far the fishing has sucked.

I think that's actually encouraged. If not, claim cleaning it up will be "a cost prohibitive job killer" and you'll need a public tax subsidy to clean up your own mess, seems to work for businesses if you're big enough.
