West Side Gas

Post by raffensg64 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:12 pm

Good God! You guys are getting hammered over there! The wife and I drove to Tacoma to ship one of vehicles to AK and were appalled at the prices. $3.39 in that area. Then the pass closed, and we were forced to take the southern route (Columbia River Gorge) back to Spokane. Before we made it to the Portland area we were seeing $3.59 at most stations.

As we drove back into Medical Lake, we were welcomed by $3.14 at the local Conoco station....a 45 cent difference. And there's cheaper gas in the Spokane area, too. Left me and the wife feeling all warm and fuzzy inside!

East side guys and gals......hold your tongues, we've got it good. We really do!

I was ammazed at the gas Prices also when I came back I was only gone for a little while and gas has went up. Vegas was only a few cents off before I left here. Now I am back in Wa. and the Gas has jumped up to 3.59 at the store around the corner from me. predictions are 5 bucks during the summer. which will suck for all that drive.

glad I haven't bought a boat yet but I help pay for gas in many boats so it will hurt me as well. I can't wait to see what i will be paying for diesel for my VW soon. At least it gets 50 MPG on the hwy to the fishing hole.....still cost a ton to fill. Time to trade it in on prius.

[thumbdn] Yeah, if the prices get too bad I may have to keep the Allison at home most of the time and buy a float tube for the local small lakes. Or just stop making so many solo trips and split the gas bill everytime... or drill for my own oil. Either way this is going to be an expensive year!

When prices increase like they are, I often wonder how people can afford to fish. Truck, boat, etc. Think I'll stick to my 35 mpg Civic and float tube. Cheap is good :thumleft:

Don't worry, the prices here will catch up soon, and then surpass the "high" prices over there. I expect to see high $4 - $5 prices soon. Don't like that? Best start pressuring politicians for a solution, my vehicles don't run on sun or wind, neither does my boat. [cursing]

Yep, that warm and fuzzy feeling turned rapidly cold and scratchy! Saw a 10 cent jump today, one of the largest I've ever seen!

I agree with hewesfisher......this country and it's implements don't run on wind and sun. It's time to quit relying on unstable, foreign regimes for our oil. There is a need for new sources and modernization, and they will come in time, but for the time being.....DRILL BABY DRILL. If, of course, it's not already too late.

Even if we were to DRILL BABY DRILL, it would take 3-5 years to even get it into production. In the mean time?

This subject went viral in 1973, remember? How many administrations have kicked the can down the road?

We are far behind the rest of the world in getting off of foreign oil. Why? Exxon, Chevron, Mobile, BP, Texaco...............

There are 3 major reasons why the price of oil goes up.

Global unrest- I love that one. Fear
Natural Disasters- If there is a 40 mph wind in the Gulf, raise oil prices.
Global Demand- Don't get me started.

So, any guesses on how much profit Exxon will rake in this year, 10 billion, 20 billion.....hmmmm?

well let see I believe the gov charge bp for the big oil spill in the gulf and hmmm look we get to pay that back for bp and they can make some extra money. they know we will pay for the gas as we have to work not system (bus tram train dolly) would be able to carry everyone to work so we would have to pay for the gas and this hurt the economy even more as travel will be a lot less. rather flying or driving either way the prices are going to raise and every summer we get false hope they will fall and every summer they stay the same maybe drop a little then next summer above and beyond the previous. if most everyone got mopeds that would sure teach the oil tycoons.

No amount of money will give all the poor sea critters back their life, or shrink that dead zone. It'll take time, and luck to get those fisheries back. I'm not excited about gas prices, I don't get to go out nearly as much as I want. Just makes me work harder, to play hard.

That being said, if we keep drilling responsible, clean, modern up to date and inspected, we could offset high oil prices while the market develops commercially viable and sustainable alternatives to oil, coal and hydro electric power. Maybe then my children will be able to fish the rivers like there were a hundred years ago.

I love the idea of carpooling to trips.
