Jon Anderson Concert at the Triple Door

Post by Mike Carey » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:30 pm

My wife and I just returned from an incredible concert this evening - lead singer of the band "Yes", Jon Anderson, is doing a solo tour. Just him, a couple guitars, a Chinese stringed instrument and a piano. He put on an amazing show. He had some pretty serious health problems a couple years ago, including major surgery down his throat into his lungs. Happy to say, his voice is still in fine form. He played a lot of classic Yes songs and is one of the most personable performers I've ever seen. The Triple Door is the perfect venue to see him, very intimate, great sight lines no matter where you sit.

He plays again tomorrow night. If you are a Yes fan and have the evening off don't miss it! You're going to be in for an incredible treat.

Would love to see him, unfortunately my 3yo probably wouldn't enjoy it, which means NOBODY would enjoy it #-o
Carl Verheyen from Supertramp was at the 99 club the other night, missed that one too.

Raised up three of them, all turned out better than I could have ever hoped for. Mom and Dad can always use a break. I have a couple friends that would never leave their kids with a sitter and they became lifeless blobs. They lost all semblance of a life devoting themselves to being the kids servants, in the end that's all they are t this day. I know you'll never let that happen. :)

It was one of the BEST concerts I have ever seen. Aparehently Jon Anderson had wanted to tour with Yes but do a lighter load, and they got a replacement mini-Jon Anderson sound-alike. There's some interviews on YouTube with Anderson about it.

I must say, for 67 he looks great and his voice is as good as ever. Plus, it showed that he just plain likes to perform in front of an audience, whether it's 300 or 50,000. I must say, it would take a strong ego to be able to transition from huge stadiums to small clubs. His enthusiasm and joy was sincere, as far as I could tell.

This concert was right on par with last year's Paul Simon show at the Show Box. Two class acts.

You know, I think for a lot of them, performing doesn't really matter if it's one or a million. When I was wintering in the bay area, years ago I used to catch various members of the Dead playing at a couple of the bars. If you were in the know and got there early they were shows were to remember. Also saw Huey Lewis jump up on stage and play harp with the house band at a joint in San Fran one night. There must have been a whole 30 people in the bar that night. Big city with big names..... Can you imagine catching DM playing on a whim in Poulsbo.......
