Never thought a plastic garbage bag should come with a fresh dose of brains? Or a disclaimer listing what is safe or unsafe to carry inside. I am a little surprised this dude isn't smoking while filling! What's next, a 5 gallon bucket with a make shift lid?........unbelievable.

The one's that were pouring gas into a running engine from a bucket inside the van to keep it running.

A five gallon bucket would be safer that a garbage bag! How does anyone think this is a good idea? Canadians are ridiculously unsmart.

um.. wow.. How stoned from the fumes is that guy by the time he gets to the border crossing??? Certainly any brain cells he had left would be wiped out by the time he got home..

Okay, how about a 5 gallon plastic bucket without a lid! And smokin all the way home? Then using the open bucket of liquid gasoline to put the cig out.

Once upon a time, there was a Canadian tv show called " People do the darnedest things". This guy is the extreme.

I would think the gasoline would eat/melt the plastic. No?

Gas doesn't harm most plastics, just don't try and put it in a styrofoam cooler. I'm wondering if this fellow had done this previously, of if it was his first try. I just can't imagine that one could seal the bags well enough so as not to be asphyxiated by the fumes on the ride home.

I was considering the same thing after first reading about this dingaling. The other thing is the severe pressure of gasoline when it expands. It will pressurize your gas tank. Visibly bulges a red plastic storage container during warm days. And one little sharp object and there is a pin hole.

In a jamb, I once used a Styrofoam coffee cup to transfer gas from the gas can to prime a carb. After running out of gas. I was just ready to pour gas out of the cup when the bottom breached from the gas eating away at it. Took maybe 10 sec. for that to occur. Turned that cup into a unwanted funnel, right quick.

Apparently Komo is trying to exaggerate the story a bit. Turned out to be jerry cans inside the bags. Makes sense, if anyone ever tried filling water in a garbage bag and tried lifting it, the bag would just burst.

This is one reason I fail to find the nightly news that entertaining. Exaggeration in the reporting can be a simple as the words used when describing the story. To this "alleged" incident with the garbage bags. Depending on the outcome of the "investigation", it would be interesting for KOMO to address this situation.

I wouldn't even call it exageration, I'd call it bad reporting. You would think a reporter would be a bit more through, but I guess not. TV news is pretty lame - a lot of times the "stories" are taken right out of the morning Seattle Times, how lame is that?

Leave it up to the tv news to just 'grab' a story.

Reporters have a ethical duty to make certain a "story" is thoroughly checked before reporting. It effects the station and reporters reputation. I have a problem with the nightly News reports being called "Stories". A "story" is used at bed time to put the kids to bed and to sleep. And are mostly made up! Like cartoon's!!

When the news anchor say's the word "story". I think of the song called "Dirty laundry"!! Can not recall who sings it?.

Google reveals that was Don Henley.

Love that song, yet dirty laundry is just true information that you don't want getting out to the public. False reporting and taking quotes out of context is deceitful and not true journalism. News agencies should be required to broadcast and/or print retractions and pay a fine.

Yes, face a fine, retraction and face giving up the Edward R Murrow award for "best story during a broadcast".....LOL!

I was on board with the dirty laundry part. But thought he (Don) made snide remarks about the news castor/anchor's, and there delivery of information at the cost of "praying" on others like animals. Here are a few examples of the lyrics:

"Kick them when there up"
"Kick em when there down"

"I make my lining off the evening news"

"I got my dirty little fingers in everybody's Pie"

"Could have been an actor, but ended up here"

"I have to look good but don't have to be clear"

"Bubble headed bleach blond comes on at 5

"When all is said and done, I haven't told you a thing"

There just talking heads, reading a teleprompter as fast as they can read and speak. Step out of the room where the tv is on, and listen. There delivering at a blistering pace. And switching from male to female anchor with each "Story" to keep you "engaged".

Just an Observation, but the photo shows me that he had some kind of container in the bag. in the US you have to hold that spring plunger on the spout before gas will even start to flow. For that he would need both hands to fill up the Bag. I think the bag was just so it would not spill or to help keep the fumes to a minimum for the drive back. some days I wish I put my gas cans in a bag to help contain the fumes.

The TV news these days is just that, a story. I rarely watch it because most of the time they're just full of........

At least it was a plastic bag and not a paper bag.
