Wind speed hit 40kts today

Post by MotoBoat » Sat Sep 28, 2013 2:42 pm

Wishin I was a fishin. So, took a peak at the wind speed as reported online by the Wa State Ferry's. Peak wind was during the Edmonds to Kingston run. 40kts registered in the shipping laned.

Tried to "print screen". Then save to "ms paint". Then download as a attachment. But the file was to big for this site. How is a attachment downsized? Was the path taken to save as an attachment correct?

File was 324kb. Site max indicated to be 256kb?

Depends on what programs you have on your computer, such as paint and stuff.

Or download one of these;

http://www.gimp.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.resize2mail.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.irfanview.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://download.cnet.com/Light-Image-Re ... tml#rateit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://picresize.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Tried downloading this one for use with "ms paint". But my security claimed two of the files were infected and blocked them.

Hopefully this works right but per the Port of Edmonds Weather Center site http://www.portofedmonds.org/weather/da ... ather2.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; the winds did crack 40 back about 3:30 p.m. maybe...

Is there a sight that tracks wave height in the sound?

In MS Paint, across the top, locate the resize option. Click on it, then select pixels, then reduce the horizontal width to 1024, height will go to 768. Now save the file and post. [wink]

Thanks Hew, very clear steps given. Going to give the attachment a try, resized.

When resizing for the first time. The Horizontal pixel was a default of 17??, and vertical was 576. "H" was changed to 1024 but the "vert" remained at 576. Changed the vert to 756 and that defaulted the Horizontal to 1344. Could not manually set to 1024 x 756. What does this translate to? Have something to do with my screen ratio?

There are tools available all over the internet to check real time wind speeds, just need to dig a little.
Here is another, also provided by WSDOT for the 520 Bridge.

When in the resize window, make sure the "Maintain aspect ratio" box is checked that way resizing maintains the aspect ratio of the original image. What happened in your case is probably due to some other aspect ratio of your saved image.

If the aspect ratio box is unchecked. Horizontal pixel changed to 1024. Vert pixel to 768. Then changes saved. The pop up box disappears. When re-size option is again selected. 1024 x 768 is the saved default, and the aspect ratio box is checked by default. Now if I change horizontal to 1920, 1344 is the vertical default. Change H to 1024, and the vert now defaults to 768, as it should.

Is deselecting the aspect ratio box before making changes a common fix?

I did notice when raising and lowering the pixel size. The image zoomed when increased and the opposite when decreased.

I never deselect the option for maintain aspect ratio and my pics always size appropriately, i.e., change horizontal to 1024 and vertical automatically goes to 768. Changing pixel size will increase/decrease image size because that's what you're doing. [wink]

It was a big discovery, let me tell ya! [rolleyes]

As far as the resizing in ms paint. Once the default was changed, and aspect ratio box selected. The default is now 1024 x 768.

Not knowing if this makes any difference. But this is using windows 8. 25" screen with 16:9 aspect ratio. Which I suppose is the same as a 4:3 ratio? But this assumption is based solely on math.
