America: A graffit tagged dump site.

I recently returned from a trip to South Korea. As you can imagine, 91 million people squeezed into such a small space it's pretty crowded. It wasn't long before I missed the wide open places of our homeland. But the one thing I was NOT MISSING was the nasty filth I see everywhere in our public places here in America. It got me wondering what changed here, that people feel so comfortable throwing trash everywhere, painting graffiti in every single spot possible, defacing and destroying property?

In Korea, it's CLEAN! No graffiti, no piles of old refrigerator's and other trash heaped in turn outs, in fact, there's actual art hanging on the walls in the subway stations!

Just take a walk along the banks of any of our rivers...look at the trash left.. drive any rural area and see all the dump sites. The graffiti all over. It's so common here that we are not only used to it, we expect it. And it goes deeper. More and more we see guys snagging fish. Actually throwing trash on the ground and we stand by silent. We are afraid! I admit it, you never know how the guy will react if called. Why have we become such a selfish society? Why is punching a guy in the face (or worse) accepted because he told you what you did was wrong? Why, as a society have we let this become our way of life? Accepted trashed out graffiti defaced, car window smashed, thug, snagging as the norm?

I spent 22yrs of my life serving this great county, so I'm not America bashing. I'm just making an observation and asking for some reflection and a rhetorical question as to what has happened to the people of this land, and they way we take care of it...

Today's society is a me me me society. 'Gimmee what I want' society. Too many just don't care about America, the land, the country, or other people.
