Many newer propane heaters come with a built in O2 sensor with auto shut off. That being said, I hadn't given thought to installing a battery operated CO detector in the boat as well. Seems like cheap additional insurance, time to see what eBay has to offer.

I look forward to the day that I need to worry about my boat's inadequate cabin ventilation!

A box trailer (not intended for use as living quarters) converted to a cabin without proper ventilation. Somehow I don't think the propane heaters (note plural in the report) had oxygen sensors nor was any thought given to CO detector in the converted box trailer. A senseless tragedy.

I'm not the least concerned with the propane heater we use in our boat with the canvas on. The heater has an oxygen sensor and the canvas is anything but airtight. [wink]
