With all this talk of high gas and coffee prices, I thought I'd share this tidbit.

My wife called me from Hawaii earlier this evening. She bought a gallon of milk in Honolulu today for $9!!!! Yikes!!!!

It probably was always higher over there than in the lower 48 but that is ridiculous. I've never been over there, but I don't think there are that many dairy farms on the islands. When I was in Guam in the service, all you could get was powdered milk. Mmmmm..... good stuff.:-&

When I was in the Navy up in Adak, we would get these frozen bricks of milk from the commissary. It was expensive for it's time, too.

I think the stuff she got in Hawaii was too close to the tourist areas and not what the locals pay. Do I hear gouging the tourists? Part of it also is that everything has to be shipped to the islands and that costs more. Still a shocker when your wife tells you what she spent. Afterall, two gallons of milk equals a nice new swimbait.

Yeah Marc, that soy thing kinda makes me queezy thinking about it.
