Bike rack
Re: Bike rack
We have the Thule 4 bike rack that swings to the right, allowing the back of the vehicle to open, and are quite satisfied with it. It's pictured on the site under the 4-bike rack link, but I did not see it listed for sale. If you are putting the carrier on a vehicle without a trunk, you'll want one that swings or tilts out of the way.
Re: Bike rack
We bought a Thule 4-bike rack that tilts down via a latch release (not the locking pin style). The rack itself is built well and works great, but have not used it a whole lot as of yet. It's mainly for our Toyota Highlander (rear hatch door). Note: I don't think I'd want to try lowering it out of the way with the bikes attached because the weight. Due to it's more infrequent use, I remove it and store it in the garage most of the time. It does not have a typical hitch release mounting pin either. It has a bolt that needs to be threaded through the hitch receiver pin hole and tightened down. Not made for quick install and removal, but does the job. Would have bought a swing away if I hadn't had to purchase the hitch receiver for the Highlander at the same time. Too much $$$ at the time.
Re: Bike rack
You may want to check these out. They're a little pricy but they are very secure and will keep someone from walking away with your bikes.

+1 only ours does have the the typical hitch release/mounting pin. We got ours off CL for about 1/2 of the price of new..BentRod wrote:We bought a Thule 4-bike rack that tilts down via a latch release (not the locking pin style). Re: Bike rack
This is what we had briefly.

Was working great, until I had to use the hitch for towing at the same time. Now I use a fork lock in the back of my truck.
