Good shorefishing for kids near Woodinville

Post by maestr2 » Fri Aug 10, 2012 3:32 pm

Looking for recommendations on lakes that would be worth looking at to take my granddaughters fishing in the Woodinville, Redmond area. Any area within 25 miles of that. I am from Oregon and looking at going late August. Any help appreciated.

There's a dock in Kenmore. I believe it's called "Log Boom".

There's also Cottage Lake. It has a dock also.

There's also a dock on Mercer Island. Luther Burbank Park. It's only ~20-25 mins away with light traffic. But I wouldnt bother to attempt during rush hour.

x2 Cottage Lake.. close to home, they stock it..
I fished there several times about 6 years ago and it was a good producer then..

Cottage can be crowded, not to diswaid you though... try it.
I second the Log Boom park motion. Just google it. I don't know how old or skilled your grand daughters are... This time of year is not the best trout fishing. Waters are warm, trout are not so active from the range of the dock.
If you go to Logboom you may find some perch or panfish with a bobber and worm. I would fish actually in the very beginning of the dock area..... I mean, not at the very end of the dock. You might think that farther into the lake is deeper and better. It is actually very shallow at the end of the dock, but there is not really any cover for fish. The first part of the dock, casted toward shore has lots of cover and bass, panfish, etc.
Have fun with your grand kids.

Thanks for the reply, talked to my daughter and they have been trying Cottage, not many people getting any action, Will keep the LB Park in mind, thanks a lot.

Thanks to all who replied. Probably will try Log Boom as grand daughters are 5 and 8 and don't care what type of fish. I just want them to get some action and several of the replies indicate perch, bass etc there.

Blackman's Lake in Snohomish has dock access rather than shore and is a bit deeper (about 15') at the north dock.
