Listing location in your profile....

Post by The Quadfather » Wed May 29, 2013 10:05 pm

Just a random comment...
I probably spend too much time on this website, but just and FYI, it would be helpful if people listed their general location within your profile. Sometimes people ask questions about things, and such as tonight someone asked about where to get further classes/education on fly fishing.
I look under the user's name, for their location, and then I would send a message that works for their location. But this person doesn't say where they are.... so not so easy to give a tip to.... just sayin'

I set mine last night after seeing this. Didn't really know how, but it was easy enough to find.

Usually when you sign up for a message board it's one of the questions they ask, and I always fill it out, so registration here must not have that included?

Well, if someone askes for help finding a good spot to fish, then we have to ask 'where?"

Then weeks later the same person might ask "how is clear lake?"

Then we have to ask "which clear lake? there are at least 4 in this state".

then he'll have to say "down the road from me in Wells" or some such town,

then we'll have to ask "which Wells, there are 2 towns of that name in this state, which count?"

so on and so on

that's why I've asked people for their location in ads and forums. One person in Spokane can help someone over there personaly if they know the person needing help lives over there, and a person needing help around Tacoma can get help from someone over here. All we have to do is look at their location and answer according ly rather than keep asking "where".

This is why I don't bother with "generic" info requests, I've got better things to do than play 20 questions to answer 1. :-"
