I have yet to hear his actual words that got him into hot water as of yet.... All I've heard so far is he implied that a certain lifestyle was immoral but that lifestyle was not defined by him... The current interview,,,, not his sermon from years ago...

Hell! They fried that cook that said something 30 years ago....... Paula something... this shizzle is upside down!

It could be a PR ploy, but due to the "IMPLIED" subject matter, the volatility... I doubt it.... there are a lot of bucks at stake to those actors.

I enjoyed the one episode I saw.... sunk a boat and raced lawn mowers.... That was funny! LOL

Here's a link to the GQ article and everything Phil had to say. There is a little foul language in there but it doesn't come from Phil. It comes from the guy that wrote the article.

http://www.gq.com/entertainment/televis ... -robertson" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After reading the whole article I can only imagine the Nazis, Shintos, and Muslims will be the next ones to shake their fists at Phil.
Read it for yourself and make your own decision as to whether or not Phil was out of line.

I'd never heard of this show before the controversy. Reading that article the first thing I noticed is how disrespectful the interviewer is to the outdoor lifestyle, and "rednecks" that enjoy everything that God has given us. I fully embrace equality in society. I think that it's shameful when people discriminate against people based on the fact that they were born a certain way. But his comment wasn't hateful, it was crass, but it simply expressed the attitude that most straight men feel towards a certain practice. It's not something that we can understand. Does it have a place on TV? Probably not. The guy was having the same conversation that the guys in college have when they think about homosexuality.

A&E has every right to suspend the guy, and he has every right to say what he feels. He didn't say anything surprising coming from a christian world view, he just said it in an unbelievably vulgar way. The interviewer was looking for controversy in the article, the way he wrote it was offensive towards the Christian belief system, and those that hunt and fish all the time. That's what I found most offensive.
"You put in your article that the Robertson family really believes strongly that if the human race loved each other and they loved God, we would just be better off. We ought to just be repentant, turn to God, and let’s get on with it, and everything will turn around... We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ’em, give ’em the good news about Jesus—whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort ’em out later, you see what I’m saying?”
There's nothing offensive about that, in fact it's enlightening. If more Christian "bible-thumpers" believed this, and acted upon those beliefs, there would be less reason for the restof the country to criticize them. Of course, any atheist is inevitably going to look at a theist and mock them. If they don't see that there is no God, there is no meaning in our existence and that humans are just a species among millions that has evolved from monkeys; if they believe in some "make believe" Santa Clause that can dictate morality, and create and afterlife, they are simpletons and children. the scientific establishment views religion as backwards and archaic, and because only an idiot would believe in God, they can get away with mocking us and demeaning us without it being bigotry and hate.

That's the most offensive part of this article. Sure, they are self identifying as "bible thumpers" and "white trash", which is from that family, and all of those that hold these beliefs a way of ironically acknowledging the fact that that is how popular culture has defined their beliefs. I haven't watched the show, but I'm not a big fan of the Jeff Foxworthy style of comedy that stereo types "you might be a redneck if..." because there is way more to the conservative, country outdoors men than a backyard full of parts cars and a shotgun in the gun rack. My fondest memories are family holidays, gathering around home cooked food, saying grace and being grateful for what we have. celebrating the life and bounty that we've been given.

I'm not into the guys that go around trying to convert everyone. Or the hellfire and brimstone preachers. That's just hateful and serves no purpose. That doesn't belong in our society. But that's not what this guy was doing or saying. The fact is that people say things ten times more offensive on a daily basis, no matter what part of the political spectrum they fall in. It's a shame that A&E had to go there, but it's their way to save face and respond to the inevitable backlash that this rhetoric will garner from certain groups of viewers. But that's how it is. I'm not surprised. The telling thing about the interview is the profanity and narrative that the author uses in the article is more offensive than the quotes from Phil. The article was written to provoke controversy, and it succeeded. It probably got more clicks and ad revenue than any other article this year for the magazine. A&E would be smart to put Phil back on, if only for the extra ratings.

Nate, nicely put. I'm obviously open about my faith, but shoving it down someone's throat just isn't helpful to anyone. That being said, nowadays if you are part of a recognized minority, you apparently can use any criteria and language disparaging others you wish, somehow without being prejudiced yourself. Reverse discrimination is still bigotry, and offensive to all, even those who don't realize it. When someone has to apologize for saying "niggardly" (please look it up, it's not bad!) just because it sounds sort of like the dreaded word (that which shall not be named), ignorance takes the lead on a path we are hurtling down. If Miley Cyrus can do the weird stuff reported so widely, I think Phil ought to catch a bit of grace.

the reasons people like that show, buy the seasons and everything else with they're name on it baffles me. we couldn't keep the x-mas cd in stock of songs they supposedly picked at the fred meyer i work in. seems every aisle has something with pictures of them on it.
