Fishing with da wifes earings??

Post by The Quadfather » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:11 pm

OK... I'm throwing this in the products and "Gear" section, since it sort of has to do with gear.

Is it just me... or do any of you other anglers ever look at some of your wife's/ GF's costume jewelry earrings, and think to yourselves that "All this needs is the right hook placement, and you've got yourself a fish catching lure"

My wife wears a lot of kind of long earings that are about the length of in-line spinners. Some of them just have the coolest looking parts that I swear would attract fish. It is my goal soon to procure some of these jewelery items into the garage and get to twisting some hooks, and fish some of these earrings. Don't laugh,, I will post with the results.

:-k Let me try to save your marriage.

First, ask her where you can buy some earrings like that or ask where she bought those. If she is like my wife, she didn't buy them at Macy's or Nordstorms. Probably Target or Rings and Things. You can probably pick up some like that for a couple of bucks.

Although they have a lot of earrings and "stuff", believe me, they know where each and every one of them are.

Quad..............don't go there.[sneaky]

Many of my lures are made from parts I got from the craft store, from their bead and jewelry making sections

Ha! I am always threatening my wife with that. One of the places I often go to eat lunch, there is a bunch of retired women that take up a table every Wednesday to get together, gossip and do beading. One day walking by I stopped and commented to one of em "you know, if you were to put a hook on that, you could catch fish" Some giggled, some shot daggers with their looks, the woman I was talking to didn't know how to respond and just said "Oh..uh thank you?". Now every time I walk by I give em all a big thumbs up and a smile. :geek:

Definitely post up some pics Chris!

I'd be checking out Shipwreck Beads. They claim to have the largest selection of beads in the world.

I use crystal beads in my muskie flies.

Your not the only one to think that. I have found some neat costume jewelry at garage sales that I thought would make great lures. Some of the dangly earings just have the look of a spinner waiting to be born.:cyclops:

I've even told a woman at work that her earings would make a great bass lure, and asked her if I could borrow them. :-"

I've asked the same thing to the birds in the Woolland Park Zoo.[wink]
