Lake Stevens Help For Tomorrow (kokanee)

Post by RiverChromeGS » Mon May 16, 2011 1:36 am

hey guys im headed to lake Stevens tomorrow for some Kokanee fishing, but i have never been to stevens before

I have no idea what part of the lake produces the most/biggest kokes, or what boat launch to use, if theres even more than one. ]

Not familiar with the lake at all, i need to know best place to start trolling, and the closest launch, as i am running electric trolling motor only. Thanks for the help guys, anything helps

i know this will not be much help because i have not personally fished kokanee on LS but I know there are usually a few boats trolling right in front of sunset beach, (directly east of davies beach or south the downtown boat launch)

I sent you an PM.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Launch at the North Cove launch on the NE end of the lake, motor out into north cove until the water drops off to 70 ft, look for the jumping schools they will be all over. Run 1 flat line and 1 deep line (assuming you have a 2 rod endorsement). Flat line right on the surface, or maybe a tiny weight, like 1/4th ounce. Deep rod 12-20 feet deep. Target the jumping schools, just motor right into them, once you get bit, turn around and go back. Tip offering with white shoepeg corn.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the info guys, IM planning on going to stevens saturday, i didnt go today because the weather was bad and i didnt wanna drive all that way to get blown off, so i went to lake samish instead, which supirsingly has some really nice big fish compared to recent years. Heres a pic, most are 12 inches, big one on top was 15 inches and really fat. Nice fish. bite was slow, went 5 for 8 in 3 hours. theyre jumping around, but cold day = slow bite. heres my first 4.

im just use to there being so many kokes and so small that they are on constantly all day. But samish has less this year, which means more food, which means bigger fish. ill take 8 big ones over 30 small ones any day tho.

anybody know why almost every kokanne ever born jumps like 10 times in a row out of the water splashing and flying around in the air for no reason, all day long? its really weird, theyre the only fish that do it.
