Fantastic thread, Good idea Matt!
Here's one I found from 10 years ago, I know I gotta have earlier ones but can't recall the different names I used. I'd pop in for a while, then pop out for a couple years, very inconsistant member LOL It's just this last year, half year, that I've delved into the forums and I've very much enjoyed them. A BIG Thank You goes out to ALL of you! Even you Bodofish! LOL

It was some of the most blustery weather we had fished on the opener. The fishing began at midnight with the firing of the cannon Friday night/Saturday morning at Klinks Resort. I've got to applaud Klink for supplementing the lake with trout that he purchases in addition to the states plants. We fished from the dock with power bait and caught our limits of fat trout in a couple of hours. Lots of fun with all of the people roaming about. We caught a little sleep and then began trolling with a wedding ring on one pole and a 0000 dodger on the other after sunup. Catch and release was the name of the game for 1-2 pounders as well as the smaller plants throughout the day. We saw larger caught. We never made it to the other end of the lake, plenty of trout to be had right there between Klinks resort and the state game ramp. Contrary to the states recommendations, we troll very slowly, bouncing our gear off of the bottom at times with only 20-30 pulls of line out. I target this lake on the opener every year now. It's got two resorts, Klinks and Bunkers, and a state game ramp.

I remember pluggin WALAKES super heavy at Klinks store even tracked down the owner and told him how I found his resort, thru WALAKES, looks like he's not only a WALAKES sponsor but also the #1 lake in ratings.

This following report was a little older: Williams again but in Stevens County, winter only fishery:Name:

Just looking for another lake to fish, we found Williams in the regs, saw it was open and drove on up. We were a little disappointed to find that there was still some ice on the water but we weren't surprised. Fished a couple hours, didn't catch any fish but we did have some good conversations with a couple local retirees. One had fished Williams that day and he caught a couple small trout while trolling a secret fly! He said that they were small but very well fed. Another angler stopped by and chatted about some other local lakes that he has and would again fish later in the season. The fishing bug has bitten and we have the sickness once again! Amen for fishin!

Fished Green lake for the first time this year. After discovering
this web site recently, my thoughts were confirmed, this lake is the
best kept secret in King county. I've always seen some huge fish in this lake
and I keep reading about a great variety of species.
Anyway, I slid into the west side of the lake a couple hundred yards
North of 65th street. The fly gear wasn't set up so I went with the
worm and bobber stand by. About 10 seconds after my first cast the
bobber heads 90 degrees, I missed this fish. About 10 minutes into my
second cast I landed a 16" Rainbow. Unfortunately he swallowed the
hook to deep so I had to confiscate him, ( I actually found two more
hooks within, so maybe it was just his time)
I only had about 45 minutes to fish, and spent this time amongst many
active fish on the surface, staying about 10 ft. out from the lilies.

I will go back Sunday a.m. I am looking forward to some of these
monster carp that I am hearing about.

I pulled the trigger on that idea this year, first time I targeted bass. Very frustrating but finally had a great bass weekend! I'm happy I did! I had to visit the only mandatory CnR bass lake in WA multiple times to do it. LOL In hindsight, I should not have put any effort into the bass until the weather/water warmed. I should have stuck to trout thru the entire Spring then, after hearing irrefutable awesome bass reports, switch to catching bass. This would have saved a ton of frustration and enabled me to target the different species more efficiently. In essence, "Getting the best bang for the buck!" [biggrin]

Right On Quad! Happy 10 year anniversary!

A Big Thanks to Bob J. I think you provided a ton of the lake descriptions around the state!

My first post was May 7, 2000 but I don't know how to post it here. I think Bill was posting before that. Thanks for the wonderful site Mike and Aaron.

Started for the lake at 6pm but had to make a quick U turn because we forgot the oar. I think we were in the water close to 6:30pm. Got bites from first cast, and almost every cast. We do have a small leak in the boat so Adam kept busy bailing out the water or he would have caught more fish. Our catch consisted of 1 sunfish, 1 very nice crappie, and lots of perch. We left by 8pm and came home to eat the crappie and a nice sized perch.

Back when my baby was a teenager who went fishing with his mom.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

My first post was on 4/20/09 for Green Lake King County. I only found this website a few days before that post. It was my first time fishing again after a decade of partying and college. I was on this website 24/7 checking out the historical reports to absorb as much information as I can. This Website is such a great resource.

I guess it was from Lake Desire and not Green Lake. 82 reports submitted and more coming once the sun stays around more often.

First Report From 4/20/09

I went out to Lake Desire around 1PM to 4PM. I saw a lot of fish eating insects off the surface. There were also a few fish that jumped out the water. I tried a spinner hoping the trout on top would hit it. No luck, so i stopped after 15 minutes. Then I went to the power bait set up. Used 4 pound leader that was five feet long. I got one bite using original orange power nuggets on the first cast. Then i switched to captain america and neon green power bait. No more bites for the rest of the day...

I think your thunder is still tops Mike. :king: Thinking back, I believe my report was actually submitted later than the 10-14-95 date.

I believe you are correct Bob. The following 2 reports should help with the timeline. You'll have go to the actual reports to read the full text.

I think you are the TOP contributor for the valuable information contained in WALakes lake descritions. Fishing over 400 different lakes, streams and rivers in the state and having all of the the notes to write about it. INCREDIBLE!

Read this report from David Eriksen on 1/12/2001.
22 inch trout taken at Angle Lake!!! I got a late start--and I mean a very late start--out to the lake and arrived around 2:30 or 3:00 pm. There was no one on the lake. I took this new 906 fly rod I purchased up in Vancouver B.C. a few weeks ago along with to give it a try and decided to tie on an olive woolly bugger with a piece of lead around the tippet knot. The rod proved fairly easy to load up the double taper floating line with its 4ft 3x leader. I originally tried working a strike...

Excuse the late report, but David Eriksen's big trout story brought back memories of a beautiful fall day on Angle Lake. I was bass fishing and throwing a white Power Grub along the pads on the west end of the lake. I had a hard strike and much to my surprise, I had hooked a 3 pound, 14 ounce, 22 inch rainbow. Moments later, I hooked another lunker of 3 pounds, 4 ounces, 20 1/2 inches. I then hooked a couple more large trout -- all on the white power grub. I assumed at the time that the WDFW ha...
