Float tube club?

Post by rguel » Tue Mar 06, 2012 6:48 pm

Hey everyone! I just got back from the 'stan and am eager to start fishing soon. I'm buying an Outcast Float Tube from my cousin so that I may try something new. I love to fish, however, since I've never tried the whole float tube thing I was wondering if there was a club of sorts around the Tacoma area; a place where a beginner can get some quality coaching and have some fun. If there are no clubs available I'd love to catch up with some seasoned floaters so I can learn the ropes! Thanks!

Well this year I'd love to get a combo license and do some salt/fresh.

I've never fly fished so that would be great to try.

I usually want to try and catch what I can take home I only catch one or two so I can fry them up.

I guess bottom line is I'm up for almost anything fishing related as long as I'm having fun. I think the important thing is to learn as much as I can so I may teach my son when he gets older!

I know a float tube club has been mentioned, but it's been quite awhile so I know nothing else. Hopefully the float tube fishing people will speak up soon.

RG,

I do a lot of fishing from my float tube. I live in Seattle, but work in Tacoma. The fishing I do from my tube is mostly bass during the warm water season, or I should say from about April- Sept. There are many great urban lakes that don't get fishing pressure for bass. Many of these lakes are small enough that they don't have actual boat launches and therefor very few people get on to the water actually. Many times it's just a couple of guys fishing power bait from shore.

I fish with guys all the time from this site. If you have any questions or comments just send me a PM. I know of a couple of lakes in the South Sound (Tacoma or thereabouts) that I am anxious to hit up this year.

The link to the Puget Sound Float Tube club that AMX posted previously,, unfortunately that group didn't really last. Nice people, not sure what happened. I was part of that while it was going.

I haven't 'float tubed' since high school, and that was with acualy tubes from car tires, and one was covered with a potato sack to hold the tackle box on top, and the fish inside. It still sounds like a great idea for the small lakes. I want to get a 10 to 12 foot boat, maybe this summer, for those lakes.

I checked out that link and it seems the Puget Sound Float Tube Clube doesn't exist anymore. It was created in 08 but the page is pretty much down and i can't find anything else about it. Sad!

Not sure how I missed this post, but I'm an avid tuber. I'm mainly a bass guy but do trout in the winter. There was a float tube thing starting up, but it went by the wayside. I'm in N. Mason, but fish Kitsap Co lakes as well as Pierce and pretty much anywhere. I'm off on Mon and Tues. More than happy to fish with ya. Let me know!
