Good Sturgeon Charter?

Post by yooper_fisher » Fri Feb 17, 2012 12:05 pm

My parents are finally making the drive west from Michigan to visit me. They should be here around the middle of June and my dad really wants to go sturgeon fishing. Can anyone recommend a good charter service?

Our family has used Pacific Salmon Charters out of Ilwaco for years for Sturgeon trips http://www.pacificsalmoncharters.com/. We always ask for the Sarah Kaye or Katie Marie depending on how many we have going.
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

We've gone with CoHo charters a few times out of Illwaco and had good time and good luck.

Thanks for the info Gringo and Jerry. I'll check out both places.

Anyone else have any input on this subject? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My dad and I had a great time! We fished on the Pacific Dream with Captain Ed and Deck Hand William. We were lucky as there were only 3 other people on the 50+' boat so plenty of room.
The fishing started a bit slow, but we ended up boating 5 fish, 2 of them keepers (mine the biggest at 46"), losing about 3, and missing 4 or 5 other bites.

It was a great time, excellent service, super nice people! I'll def be going back, either for more sturgeon or during the albacore season.
