Chehalis?
Anybody know much about how the Chehalis is supossed to be for salmon? Sunday is opening day and i was just curious to see it itll be worth my time.

Re: Chehalis?
we go in like october and its great, i find that spinners and spoons work better than corkie and yarn at my spot, like a size 3-5 mepps aglia, size 3-5 blue fox vibrax or 1/3-1/2oz blue fox pixee spoon (last two are preferred). and a thick gel type scent never hurts, because scent oils just wash off every cast

Re: Chehalis?
Awesome! thanks for the tips. I went a few times last year right around opening day and i only caught one coho! Must have been doin something wrong haha
Re: Chehalis?
thats what im targeting most of the time, cuz the chehalis cohos are alot nicer than puyallup cohos, their kings are nice too, i go orange and black for silvers and green chart and yellow for kings
Re: Chehalis?
When I lived down their we'd troll plugs around in our kayak in the lower section downstream from montesano. Plugs takes are pretty exciting, they hit it hard.

What are some good colors, I make my own spinners that I bet would work perfect on the chehalis.goonatic wrote:we go in like october and its great, i find that spinners and spoons work better than corkie and yarn at my spot, like a size 3-5 mepps aglia, size 3-5 blue fox vibrax or 1/3-1/2oz blue fox pixee spoon (last two are preferred). and a thick gel type scent never hurts, because scent oils just wash off every cast

well the waters a little murky so the bright or dark colors are best, silver and gold(naturals) arent the best here, for silvers i like orange yellow(not chart) and black, separate and in combo designs, and for kings a spring green and or black is good, but most of the time all the colors will work for either species, but those are some guidelines to follow at first then if its not the doctors order, switch it up, chartreuse, pink, are decent also

Re: Chehalis?
I went yesterday and caught a pretty hefty king! It was native and gettin kinda dark, so back in the water it went! Caught it on one of those Aglias you told me about Goonatic!
