Ya want me to tow you up north, then back south? [laugh]
LOL. I could always get more gas, but if I'm done, I dont want to pump it all out.

I dont like to leave the gas in the tank during winter.

The sun never came out today on the lake. Fog, then clouds. At least it wasn't windy.
Was SOME fog on Sawyer, a little breeze. After the sun was out for awhile I went home. It got a little windy after I got home. 58-59 degree water. Water had lots of dirty stuff on it.

Amen to that!! Lake WA. cutthroat trolling in the winter is wonderful! The lake to yourself minus a few other people in the know. The launches are perfect and empty.

I actually put fuel stabilizer in my gas tank everytime I fill up. I also fill up with only ethanol free gasoline for added insurance.

My first tank of the year was at Fuel Farm in Auburn. My last couple of tanks was at Grange Country Store in Issaquah. The first tank, I put in StarTron and some Quicksilver Quickleen. The other tanks, I used blue Stabil and Quickleen.

I didn't see/feel/hear a difference between the StarTron and Stabil.

I got all my gear to do the water pump today. New impeller, 2 gaskets, and 2 washers. But the thing is, I probably wont change them out until Spring. Will also change the spark plugs in Spring.

I will be changing out the motor oil, gear oil, "fog" the cylinders, greasing all motor zerks, and flush out my hubs with fresh grease through the zerk.

PS, I was able to get a good deal on the gallon of oil, even though I only need 3 qts. Overton had a sale on them for $20 shipped.

So much for it being a great day to fish. The wind didn't die down much and when the temps took a nose dive is when it started to rain/hail. At least I kept the skunk off the boat thanks to a smallie and a few perch. I also learned that I need to keep my propane tank away from the compass of my new autopilot. It took me a while to figure out why I was drifting off course, looks like it may be time in invest in a fiberglass tank!

Ya did better than I did. I went shopping and missed most of the sun. It was a little windy when I got home and I decided to cook a pizza instead. Image Image

How come no one told me I forgot about the oil filter.... UGH. #-o

I went to drain my lower unit. Installed a brand new magnetic drain plug. I drain my motor oil and start looking for my oil filter to replace the old one..... Wait a minute..... I dont have a new oil filter! ](*,)

Checked at local shop to see if they had any on hand. All they had was Sierra. I prefer OEM. Looks like I'll have to order it online instead of driving around. :-k

Oil filter, do you have an inboard? The so called filters on 4 cycle outboards are typically just metal strainers that you clean on an annual basis.

No, I have a Mercury outboard. It has a spin on canister filter like they have on cars.

This isn't for my model, but same type of filter. It's nice and easy to get to. The only thing I hate about my motor is getting to the spark plugs. Pain in the butt.

Pretty nice to have a filter like that to protect your motor isn't it FF? [thumbup]

I've got an oil filter, water/fuel separating filter (spin on similar to the oil filter) and an air filter on mine, all under the cowl. Easy routine service to keep everything happy. Good on you for using OEM stuff, it's the right thing to do. [thumbsup]
